We’re lucky enough here at Pogo to deal with some nice people. The good folks at our favorite Surfer Paradise backpackers resort (otherwise known as Budds in Surfers) have been great to deal with.
They went through some struggles initially. There were difficulties with council approvals and expectations for opening for summer and taking advantage of peak backpacker season evaporated. They pushed on through this and renovated and redesigned their Surfers backpackers until it was ready to pass council muster.
The renovations were meticulous and they now boast one of the nicest backpackers in Surfers Paradise. For those who want cheaper accommodation in a relaxed environment but aren’t necessarily backpackers they also have a family room (which I can tell you is huge) and an ensuite room. Being a backpackers all other rooms (even the family room) share bathroom facilities.

So they’ve opened now of course and they’re building on early success to become a popular destination for backpackers. The backpackers world is a community with its own grapevine and word of good backpackers travels fast. And then of course there’s Trip Adviser, Bookings.com etc. From that they’ve managed to keep good occupancy rates through winter. It all starts with the people who work there though and having worked with them I knew they would succeed. Backpackers are a hospitality based industry and having good friendly people behind the desk is important. We enjoy dealing with the guys and gals at the Budds backpackers and can see why their backpackers enjoy staying their also.
Cleanest Backpackers in Surfers
They put in the hard work and it’s paid off already. Cleanliness is just as important to backpackers as it is to hotel guests. The crew at Budds in Surfers work hard to be the best and they’ve already won a cleanliness award from Hostel Brokers. That’s a pretty good sign that they’re doing something right. You can just about always judge an establishment from its cleanliness, whether it be restaurant, hotel or backpackers.
